While that's all kinds of high tech and has that Star Trek factor wouldn't a .50 cal have resulted in the same outcome for a heck of a lot fewer dollars? I'll even volunteer to conduct the test.

98 Million and 2.5 years.... OUR tax dollars at work.

At least they came in under budget....

Could have just run E15 Ethanol fuel with similar results.

I think it's cool, and I am glad we are spending money on weapons R & D. That is how we stay ahead.

You guys are sounding a lot like folks did when money was being spent on this:

I'll go out on a limb and say that developed into a pretty effective weapons system a few decades later.

When I was 21 old to me was 40. When I became 40 old was 60. When I became 60 old was 70. Now that I am 70 old is 80. When I turn 80 old will probably be 95. When I turn 95 old will most likely be 105.

Looks like I am never going to get "old"!

I am fairly confident that despite those engines running they were probably due for repower. Outboards are disposable and 2 years of use 7 days a week..........you guys get it. A 12 gauge slug is the best way and the cheapest. You have to be up close and personal though. .50cal rifle and people end up dying from shrapnell wounds. Shooting a Barrett 50 from a hawk is a ton of fun.......actually did it.

Bob,
Loads of fun. It was a double whammy for me. It was actually the first time I even shot a fifty. The bird is loud, but when the fifty rings the heart really feels it. The shockwave rips right through you. Did not shoot a real target. Just dropped green dye in water. I am a boat guy that got to ride with our air side brothers to see things from thier perspective and do some hawk verses midnight express training. Flying is a blast but would not trade it for what I get to do. I know you are a speed demon but have you ever reached out and touched another boat at 45 knots? Officially I have not done that either, thats just silly and completely unsafe!
