UV raw water pump impellers

Post by Mikey »

Vic,
Sometime back I believe you did a post on raw water pump impellers. I tried, to no avail to search it out. Who's impellers were you touting? Is there a serial # on the pump itself or will my engine serial # be enough. Also where do I buy them?
Thanks
Mikey

Mikey - Tony Athens of Seaboard Marine in CA designed a vastly improved impeller for the Sherwood pumps and has them made overseas. As I remember you have the 6BTA 300s, CPL 970? The 210s and 250s use the Sherwood 15000 series pumps and I think the 300s use the 17000 series. You can tell the difference as the 15000 has the impeller keyed to the shaft with a woodruff key and the 17000 has a spline.

Tony also has aftermarket improved cams and wear plates for the pumps. His website is www.sbmar.com. Nice folks and the impellers are a huge improvement over the crapy Sherwood ones.

Vic,
Thanks. Tony is making the cross-over exhaust for the port engine. Talking to him this week and will ask.
