Post by Bertramp »

In my travels, I just came accross a Bertram 20 hull with trailer for $500. There is no power, but reportedly the transom was just rebuilt (I was not dressed for a bilge crawl). It is a standard moppie.

Are folks putting brackets and outboards on those these days ?
Is there a small diesel I/O that would fit it ?
Has anyone out there done a center console conversion ?

Can I live in one of your basements after I bring it home ? :-D

$500 is a good deal. I just got a 20 Bahia Mar for $1100 and I thought that was a good deal. Mine is the Bahia Mar which I think is a bit rarer.

The Volvo D3 fits great and might be the best engine for the boat if cost is not really a consideration.

The 4.3 V6 (eith merc or volvo) is IMO the best all around choice. Will run quick (low 50's mph).

I'd double check the transom. It is wet if not already replaced. The foam is most likely wet as are the stringers.

I am currently in the middle of rebuilding mine. You can take a peek over on the 25 Bertram site.

I found a B20 Barron at a friends yard just waiting for someone to jump in. I will be down there this week to pull my radar dome off my old 25, if anybody wants some pic's let me know.
