dytek 500

Post by Capt.Frank »

Anyone have a old Dytek 500 they are not using. I can't read the screen on my gauge. I know they are out of business. I have a hole in the dash to fill.

Thanks

Frank - I have one in my hand....may even be new. I'll hook power up to it tomorrow and make sure it works. Got your name on it.

If Vics doesn't work try looking at Cruz Pro. You might need to use a piece of Starboard to help fill the whole but they offer a sea temp guage on a stand alone basis.

Frank - I hooked it up to a battery and it lights up but nothing on the little screen.....I don't have the sensor for it as its installed on AJ....come to think of it, the reason this one is here at home is I replaced the one on AJ because......the screen was blank? I'll be happy to take it to the camp and hook it up to the sensor on AJ and see if it will work...I'm going there today and be back Sunday or Monday.

Frank - bad news....this one does not display when plugged into the sensor and powered up...the backlight works but that's all.

dug i don`t have the ducer but airmar makes there units for all . the ducer is the size of a quarter and requires a 3/8" hole . superior to to the airmar combi. units that read depth at 50/200hz as well as speed ,temp. ducer is a two wire unit to seperate from all other instuments . normally used by the pro`s looking for small temp. break within a large eddie.very inexpensive but require boat haul.

Im not sure but I have two 1800s and if I switch the cables from one to the other they dont work. I think it needs to be calibrated for each unit. I may be wrong. It would not be the first time.

other then the correct electronic polarity desinated by the alingnment nocth in the connector there is no calibration providing you match correct ducer to the unit.
