No spark

Post by makomike1 »

Need help. I have crusader 350 270 hp. Was cruising today and starboard engine just died. tried to start back up but no such luck. I have lost spark going to plugs. I have bought a new module inside of the distributer and bought a new coil. still I have no spark. Someone suggested that there may be a short inside of the tach, could this happen. What other things should I trouble shoot. Thanks Mike

Did you check distributor for moisture/condensation?

can you by-pass the tachometer lead that leaves coil? Possibly a bad coil wire to distributor?

check the breaker on the engine near the wiring harness if there is one there (mercruisers usually do)

do the wires that lead to the coil and ditributor have power?

if they do check voltage needs to be over 10 volts I believe or will not create sufficient spark.

Good luck, and let us know
