Due to some recent Whaler talk, I wanted opinions. Last week I drove from NJ to VA to look at a 15 whaler super sport. Was told it would be worth it, as it was in "good" shape.
1988 hull, no spider cracks in the gelcoat, no repairs, no paint (anywhere), rubrail like new, bimini top, wood in great condition. 1992 mercury 70hp p trim/tilt, ss prop, runs great (which it does). trailer, good shape, needs new rollers, bunk carpet, has new tires/hubs. Asking was $4995, paid $4500.
I think I did ok, whats the concensus?
Whaler deal?

You did great! Nice boat! You will love her!
I had one and named it "Widespread Panic". I wanted "Raped Ape" but thought it would be a bit too politically insensitive... This coming from a guy who has a great friend who's boat is named "IV Play" as he is the 4th in his family to sport his name. His wife hates calling and making reservations for the boat...the IV is not a medical term.
After your first ride in a light chop, you will know why the second name..
