Transom Running Light-Removal & Replacement?

Post by redcat20 »

Captains,
Trying to get my running lights operational for the holidays.
Bow and mid-ship lights don't work, but can sort them out easily enough.
Problem is in transom light. Not sure how to take it apart.
Has 2 screws which hold a small plastic ring in. Take the screws out, remove the ring, and then what?
Seems to be a plastic cover that covers the actual light bulb-do you pry that out, does it screw out, ?? don't want to break it
Anyone done that transom light bulb replacement? Tricks?

Mine is a chrome rectangular unit. If I remember correctly, it is held in with two screws. the rectangular plate lifts out and the circular plexi bulb cover was held on by the pressure from the plate, exposing the bulb holder assembly. Hopefully you're doing this on dry land or backed up close to a dock.

Yup that about it, a quick replacement is usually what I opt for...hopefully you will have better weather then what is being called for here. Rain, Rain and more Rain with periods of Rain and Showers.
