Hull Color - You vote, we paint!

Post by nic »

We are going to paint the hull topsides on our 1963 fbc. The superstructure is white/white, the antifouling is green. The choice for the hull is White.....a very pale Buff....or....Fighting Lady Yellow.

You guys decide, we can't.

Thanks

Nic

Color is real personal, I vote white with Fighting Lady Yellow as a close 2nd.

I like the fighting lady yellow with a green boot stripe. With the green bottom, I'd put a 3" green boot stripe 1" above the bottom paint & then possibly an additional 3/8"-1/2" stripe just above that. I've seen it before & it looks awsome.

To quote UV -- it it ain't white, its wrong!

Spoken by a guy with a bright metallic green 73 B31!

Capt Patrick, what's the running gear coated with?

If you're going with a green bottom, I like the yellow sides. If you go with black, I like sea-foam green or light blue.

Thanks guys,

I make that 3 for white (incl. Tom & his proxy for UV), 4.5 for FL Yellow, (.5 fr Scot for close second choice), a very eloquent case for Buff fr Capt. Patrick and one informal vote.

I'll post a picture of the results of the poll in February 07.

Keep up the great work!

Nic,

Actually, even though the image of "Buddy Boy" doesn't really come out color correct, the boat IS Fighting Lady Yellow...

Thanks for the correction Capt. Patrick, that would have been weird! The flying shot of Buddy Boy shows a similar hue. The President of the paint committee has the casting vote and it looks like white, Bahama Green boot-top and light green a/foul - and that was before seeing your late vote Phil. What I hadn't mentioned is the side windows have a strong 1960s light green tint, solid front. No stripe on the bridge. Can't wait to show it to you all.

Thanks again

The more particular the harder to pick a color scheme. When doing my 25B Leslins over I was thinking F L Yellow but there are many boats out there that color, thought about light green, dark green, dark blue could'nt make a decision (but that goes for alot of things in my life).
I was in Florida the fall prior to painting the boat, had some time to kill, went into Whittikers Boat Yard in Stuart and there it was a new 57 Whittiker Sportfish with Ice Blue hull, snow white superstructure and water line and grey bottom paint. BINK that was it for me. I now have a white bottom but the rest is the same.
If you care to view my boat for color visit, http://www.msnusers.com/My25BertramLeslins/shoebox.msnw
