Post by Bill Mckinnon »

Hey guys am going to repower with the 315 yanmars, can anyone tell me what would be the best prop configuration I should be looking at? I had gas engines before and have 18X19's on there now any help would be great

Thanks

Bill,

Presuming you are going with 2:1 transmissions, start at 20x24 for four blade, 21x23 for 3 blade. Tweak from there to find your correct loaded RPM, which should be no less than 3900 for the 6LP. Both ways will probably need a medium cup.

bill.........i asked the same question 2 years ago, went with the 315 yanmars capt pat told me to go with the 2:1 TRANS,1.5 dia. shafts,4 blade 20 by 24 nibral props and i must tell you it is one SWEET PACKAGE!
3200 rpm gives me a solid 27/28 knot cruise wot 3900 rpm i got up to 34 knots(dry) and the boat is unbelievable out of the hole. i also put in a MASE gen set. boat burns 1 gallon for every 1.5 miles. i live in new jersey and run the canyons alot and i just love the performance.
GOOD LUCK!
