windshield adjuster
Since many of you are removing or covering your windshields has anyone got the adjuster knobs? All four windshield sections on Dreamsicle are operative and don't leak enough to justify sealing or covering. Also I like the fresh air in the summer. The knobs on mine all have a threaded metal insert in the knob except one, which is all plastic and stripped. I'm looking for a replacement. Mine are stamped "Imperial" on the end.

I am with you- too hot on the Chesapeake in the summer not to be able to open the windows.
Many of those types of original parts on our boats seem to be made by Perko. I would start there.
Noticed that you are in Irvington. Do you go over to Urbana often for the big festival in Nov. I have been a few times and it is a blast. Got a room at the Tides one year and took the Miss Anne back at sunset at the end of the day. Great memories. Need to get back down there.

Mack,
Have been going to the Urbanna Oyster Festival since it's inception in 1956. Going again this year, probably Friday, and by Bertram of course.
When you stay at the Tides Inn you were about 1/2 mile from the house, next time you're coning, call. The Inn sold the Miss Anne to a guy in Colonial Beach. Very sad.
Also, I will be working the Annapolis Power Boat Show at the Jimmy and Sook booth selling crab shirts.

If you are coming to the show come by and introduce yourself.
Have your girl call my girl, we'll do lunch.

Guys,
Don't want to appear anal about this item but first I avoid Perko at all costs. Their favorite metal is chrome-plated zamak(sp) which I translate as chrome-plated corrosion. Can't understand why a company selling hardware for boats used in a salt-water environment would foist a highly corrosive product off on the public and stay in business.
This is the reason I am looking for an original that is no longer in use. These adjusters are stainless and after polishing look new at forty-five years old.
Help.
Thanks,

Re: windshield adjuster
Mikey- if you truly can not find a replacemet then you could always put one of those inserts in the stripped one that you have. They are easy to install. If you can't do it, send it to me and I'll take care of it for you, no more than 10 minutes work involved.Mikey wrote:Since many of you are removing or covering your windshields has anyone got the adjuster knobs? You took the words right out of my mouth...........HeliCoils are the greatest thing ever invented short of Fixaflat
Mikey, I'm sure that you will be happy with a thread repair like Joe proposed......and it will be better than new

Thanks Guys,
Thought about that first, but with a list like mine (and probably yours) begging for garage leftovers was much easier. Guess no one has any so off to the hardward or McMasters-Carr.

Rawleigh,
Try to get by, but a busy week. You had to throw that Tortola thingy in didn't you? I'm jealous. Have a great trip and raise at least one glass to the North and the working slobs.
