Its been reported that the West Marine house brand has more copper than other brand names plus its cheaper.

I have heard no complaints, although I don't get much involved with bottom paints anymore.

Like any painting, preparation is 90% of the work.

I live on the Chesapeake mid-Bay. The water here is brackish to salty, and for years I used Petit Trinidad with great results. Last year, I tried Boaters World for $50 gal b/c Trinidad has gone up to $225 gal. The boat looked just as good the end of the year as it did with Trinidad--very little bottom growth. I'll be using Boaters World paint again this year.

the better paints will give you multi-season usage.

but it all depends on your usage, if you use the boat ALOT you wont get any growth regardless so at that point any ablative will do the trick.
