Yanmar 6LP DTE...will the fit??

Post by Capt. Chad »

Hi all, I am kinda new to the forum and my friend finally picked up a 1970 31. We are in the process of hunting down a pair of motors and found a pair of 2000 6LP DTE Yanmars with 1.5:1 Twin Disk 9 degree transmissions. Does anyone here know if they will fit a 1970 31 Bertram? Thanks in advance!!

Yes they will fit fine.
The DTE's are 250hp. You will need to get different gears if you want to get out of your own way.

1.5:1 is not what you want. You want 2:1 boxes behind those high speed engines.

Do yourself a favor and pay a Yanmar CERTIFIED mechanic or dealer to check them out well.

Twin disc are 10 degree down.
You can use the Hurth/ZF 630A1 gear with an 8 degree down angle.
