I want to thank evryone for their help in the past. To show my appreciation I recently sent in my thanks to Capt. Patrick.
This boat was intended to be a learing expierence. It is living up to the task.
My questions are: I cut out the damaged bottom of the cockpit deck [the full width and approximately 6" - 12" in from the stern - the damage is around the 3 deck hatches]. The outer skin is unharmed.
Which material is better / easier to use: marine plywood, corsa board, etc?
Do I coat the filler board?
Do I lightly sand the remaining top skin and clean with aceatone and coat with thin epoxy?
Do I taper the seam between the new and old core or just fill the spaces with thickened epoxy?
How many layers of glass - what thickness?
If the fiberglass matt overlaps the old matting 1" - 11/2" around the deck hatch openings will it be enough to support the deck or will the new glass separate?
If anyone would rather, I would be happy to call if a phone call is easier.
Thanks in advance.
Please help with one more 28' cockpit deck repair.
