Painting cabin undersole

Post by jgrice »

replacing the cabin sole and wondering of I should paint the undersole,(sub-sole?) before I install the teak and holly sole, my intent is to semi permanantly install the undersole and sole to allow future access to the bilges--if paint is recommended, should I paint top and bottom, top only, bottom only, edges only? undersole is 1/2" plywood, sole is 1/2" teak and holly--thanks for any help

John,

I epoxy coat the subdeck. Top, bottom, & edges, generally two coats on bottom & edges... A one part oil based paint would probably be sufficient, same coat schedule as for the epoxy.

Br,

Patrick
