Installing Bow Eye on 1962 B25

My B25 Sport COnvertible does not have a bow eye.

I want one for trailering purposes.

How much reinforcement do I need here? Should I lay in a couple layers of 1708 to 'thicken things up abit', back with a fitted peice of wood and glass in or simply drill the holes and fasten the eye?

Any suggestions?

I would like to know the same info, I already have a bow eye but there is no reinforcement and I would like to add some. I was thinking of the same as ian and adding a few layers of glass on the inside to spread out the load.

Cut and fit a V shaped wedge that conforms to the interior of the bow leaving the flat facing you... Should be about 2" thick at the deepest point. Epoxy that in and then you'll put a steel backing plate between the wood and the nuts. Use a hard wood, like oak if possible, but pine will work.

On my old B25 I took some 3/16 stainless plate about 6" x 18" and bent it to fit the 'v', then backed it up with a 4" thick oak block cut to fit, with a 4x4 stainless plate behind the oak block. No glass work, but probably serious overkill. Never broke, tho.
