Borg Warner Help

Post by gplume »

Looking for info on Borg Warner velevet drive transmissions. Anyone know where I can get a manual on an AS-2-73C.

Also, need some suggestions;
Have no forward in my starbaorad tansmission (model above). Reverse works. Changes and topped of oil with ATF. (lots of metal filings..not sure, but don't think this was normal..already scared). Linkage ok, shifter is stiff (relative to the port side.) Before I remove, any suggestions on what to try. BTW, first time the boat left the dock in almost 3 years, and supposedly functioned when it was put down.

Recomendations on people that are good for service on these types of trannys in the North East.

Thanks all for your help.

I have a pdf manual with all (71/72/73) and I can send it to you by email if you are interested. Regards

I would like one as well. rawleigh@kaballero.com. Check the strainer screen behind the elbow where the bottom hose comes out of the tranny into the tranny cooler. It could be stopped up. Metal filings doesn't sound good! Here is their website:

I am sure there is someone in RI, near you, who can service that transmission, otherwise call Mack Boring in NJ. Tony Meola

Ditto. Copy would be great. I plan to run my gassers for quite awhile longer.
