Intreresting B-31 Renovation
Not sure if the link will work, but this is an interesting B-31 center console outboard. Obviously the power choice is problematic given the demise of Evinrude, but the lines and layout of the boat look great to me.

That is interesting. I agree about the Evinrudes and I suspect that will make it difficult to sell. I'm curious about the hole shot and top speed of this boat with just 600 HP?
L&H in Stuart converted one to outboards but added 4 ft to the overall length.

I’m not a fan of outboards, especially on a 31, but this one looks the part.
600hp, light, and low profile, I think it will move along pretty nicely. Now what does that mean…you may not have to hold on when hitting the throttles but I’d think a respectable 25 knot cruise could be possible. Your thought.

In South Florida a CC that won't do 45 Kts is hard to sell. Its pretty much what killed the Sportfish market here. A 31' Contender with runout engines is roughly 60K. I've got a 23' Sea Hunt boat with a 225 hp Etec 2. The engine has about 100 hours and has spent way more time in the shop than running. There is only one shop in Palm Beach County that will work on them. But when the engine is running its a little powerhouse.Carl wrote: ↑Mar 18th, '25, 18:09 I’m not a fan of outboards, especially on a 31, but this one looks the part.

I could be happy with 25 kt cruise if the fuel economy was 1.8 mph or above. My next question would be the fuel tank capacity. To be a functional boat where I'm at 300 gallons would be a minimum.
Although, I"ll say I'm intrigued

I am trying to remember the name of the boat; I am thinking Finest Kind. Use to be a member here and had converted her to a center console outboard.
If I remember right, everyone said it rode great.

Re: Intreresting B-31 Renovation
I'd bet she runs pretty decent.
I fish with a guy on a 33 grady with twin 300 yamahas and that rig will cruise at 24 kts and 4400 rpm, he states his boat is 14,000 lbs. I am guessing the Bertram to be 10000-11000#.
My 25 has 300hp and cruises nice at 4050 rpm and 25kts probably weighs 6500# loaded, if you scaled up based upon weight the B31 probably has a little higher power to weight ratio.

That's it. I am glad your memory is better than mine.

As someone may have mentioned once or twice to me, it can be a selective memory.
