Bertram 31 Slideshow...

Post by franzmerenda »

Hi Guys:

During these final resting days (I'll be on vacation till Monday), I had to put some order in the ginormous quantity of B31 pictures I gathered in the last few years with the aim to getting ideas for my project and I found hundreds of nice vintage and contemporary pics of gorgeous 31s.
I then put some of these together into a kind of slideshow that I uploaded on YouTube.
The result is everything but professional editing (LOL), but I do hope some of you could like them as I do.

Franz,

Thanks for the great video! Of particular interest is the shot of "Buddy Boy" with the late Capt. Patrick at the helm. In addition to founding the Bertram31.com website, Patrick and Bruce Creamer completely rebuilt and repowered the Buddy Boy. Great memories......

Thanks again, Franz; we wish you the best of success with your B-31 renovation!

Francesco,

This is so beautiful indeed. Beautiful boats and beautiful scenery.

Next time please make a note of the most practical and best seller of all Bertrams, the 28.

The 31 has the allure of the first, but the 28 you can show without turquoise beaches and stuff. It stands out like the boat that sold more than ALL Bertrams together, ever!!!

I guess this is the best picture of Capt. Patrick on Buddy Boy

Image

He's definitely the GOAT as far as Bertram 31s.

By the way: boat under the name of Legacy, is currently offered on YachtWorld

So this is the old Buddy Boy? I thought Buddy Boy was in tough shape. What am I missing?

Apart from some minor cosmetic touches, like engines compartments and some touch ups, for a boat after 20 years since her refurbishing, she's in very good shape; not to mention she's the sublimation of Patrick's heritage!

We did a pretty thorough survey of buddy Boy two years ago and passed on it. It was pretty neglected and had a bunch of problems. All fixable but I’d want to see copies of receipts before I paid what they’re asking.

Whatever you found it had to be more than cosmetic. Cosmetic is an easy fix maybe, depending on how much is needed. Paint jobs get expensive. But unless they fixed what you found, you are right, the price needs to come down if repairs were not made.

Its all the stuff that is behind and under the shiny pretty stuff that adds up real fast. Moving forward with top notch maintenance on motors does not make up for past neglect.

If they did everything that was neccesary that boat is worth every penny. But I’m suspect.

A previous owner pulled out the genny, which is fairly essential when you don’t have any windows that open. None of the pictures show a new genny installed. Which would have required the engine to be pulled. Tha cabin bulkhead had some water damage. I think the boat sat with water in it. On the starboard side there was some concern with the glass tech deck being wet.

If I was listing a boat for 100k more then I paid for it, a full list of the upgrades would be a huge selling point.

Here is another beauty that came available - similar money to "Buddy Boy" I can't imagine keeping up with the wood - but sure is pretty

I like what they did with the interior on Huntress. Not crazy over the rear seating in the cockpit, unless it is removable for fishing.

Two other things I am not a fan of, is radar sitting on the Brow of the boat and they removed the compass. They are pretty confident they never have electronic failure.
