Post by Ironworker »

Who does boat value appraisals? Is there a recognized industry group?

An ABYC surveyor should do that in his report.

Thanks. I'm most likely going to export my boat to the Bahamas and will need an estimated value for customs.

Does anyone have a copy of a survey they would be willing to share with me?

Rick

Mine are really old. Hasn't been done in years so not sure it would help you. What are you looking for, especially since you just go done doing all that work. Would be like comparing an apple to an orange.

Mine is from 2020. I'll share if you think it would help. I don't remember where your boat is, but my surveyor might be able to help. Send me a PM.

Rick-
Pete Fallon has not been active on this site for a bit. He would be the person to contact, an excellent marine surveyor that used to be in Florida before moving back to New England due to some knee issue that plagued him for years. Aside from being a surveyor, he was a 31 owner for many moons and if I am correct his boat was sold n shipped to the Virgin Islands. SO may be able to offer help on all fronts.

I'd PM and shoot an email to him.

I talked to Pete Fallon yesterday and we got caught up on life and such. Yes, he's facing another knee surgery in a few weeks, and I think he holds the world record for the number of those surgeries. I told him he was being talked about on the Forum, and that he needed to hop back aboard. He said he had sortof "unplugged" from the internet when his computer went down, even though one of the guys sent him a computer so he could rejoin us. I hope he'll pop up again soon. I believe he said this surgery was to repair torn tendons and ligamants as opposed to another knee replacement.
