Sealing the lower helm dashboard

Post by pschauss »

Any ideas on how I can seal the joint where instrument panel on my lower helm rests on the top of the dashboard? I would prefer to avoid RTV-type sealants because I sometimes need to get access to the back of the panel for maintenance.

There is a product called Mortite corking cord. You can buy it at Lowes. It’s made to be removable.
It’s by the weather strip not the corking. I think Bertram used it to seal my 28’s gauge panel.
It’s been around forever. Hope this helps..

Mortite! That’s what Bertram used to seal the instrument panel on my 1988 Bertram33 FBC.

Great stuff, seals well and allows for easy removal of the panel.
