What are these connectors for?

I have two of these on the flying bridge one at each end, and two more under the overhang just aft of the cabin bulkhead. I have 12 volts at all of them. What were these supposed to be used for?

I had one on the bridge, but made of metal. Mine was for a hand held spotlight.

All of the spotlights at West Marine seem to have a cigarette lighter plug. Any idea where I can get an adapter?

That is the same one I have. As Marshall said, it is for a spot light.

I would not get an adapter, I would just replace it.

I would not worry about a corded spotlight. Get a Streamlight Waypoint handheld spotlight. A bit expensive but worth it in my opinion.

I bought this for other reasons but it’s a great flashlight. You can get an optional finger loop so that if you open the palm of your hand the light doesn’t fall. With the finger loop you can also have the light on top of your knuckles so you can use your hand. Can’t beat it for the price.

27 years with this boat and haven't had a need for a spotlight yet. Going offshore looking for buoys in the pitch black off in a distance, yes. I always found it better to let the eyes adjust over using a spotlight. Fine...see the buoy but now I'm blind to everything else.

The channel from Great South Bay into my marina (Timber Point East) has no lighted markers. If I ever have to come in at night, I am going to need some light to see the landmarks.

Peter- I will not tell you what you need, but it's amazing how the eyes can adjust to low light situations.

Provided you keep them in low light...a bright gage, video screen, or a spotlight and its like going blind.

That said, it's better to have and not need than need and not have.

I can follow my nav trace back to port, but I use a lookout in the bow (away from my helm lights) with a spotlight to identify stuff I don't want to hit along the way, especially john boats with no lights that seem to be popular in these waters. The other night we swerved to avoid hitting a racoon that was swimming across the ICW. That was first for me. I didn't think racoons could swim. With all the screens shining up at me, my night vision doesn't stand a chance.

Be careful following those tracks. I just saw that someone said remember "Aids to Navigation a.k.a. "markers" are NOT waypoints on a video game." So go slow and watch out for those racoons. They swim very well.
