Holding tank Q

Post by scot »

What’s the difference in an RV holding tank and a marine holding tank, other than 3X the price? Are the marine tanks thicker? Both are cross link polyethylene, both have the same fittings (outlets) So.. what says the Bertram group?
Thanks

I checked the Ronco Plastics website and dam if I can figure it out. I have Ronco tank. The only thing I can figure out is that the marine tank is roto molded so it is seamless. They do not show the wall thickness. UGH.

Try reaching out for them and ask.

When I jordered mine they use to make them to order. Now everything is a set size.

I have a feeling there is no difference.

Maybe it is a difference in the type of plastic to keep the smell from seeping out, just like the different types of black water hoses? RV tanks are usually on the open underside of RV's so smell is not as big an issue.

Ronco plastics were always 3/8" while the Todd tanks were either 1/4" or 5/16". Thicker is better. Not so much for strength but stopping odor permeation.

Thanks Al, I didn’t realize the Roncos were thicker. Explains why they are a little higher. For a holding tank I think thicker sounds like a good thing.
