Patching thru hulls and repairing awlgrip/awlcraft

Post by trace elements »

I am looking to relocate some thru-hulls, including the fuel tank vent, bilge discharges and exhaust ports on my 31 bertram. I am trying to remove the side panels and create more underdeck storage space. The issue I have is that the hull was painted a couple of years ago with awlgrip ($$$) and by moving the thru-hulls I would need to patch those thru-hulls and blend the paint. I believe the hull was painted with awlgrip, can I patch the holes and blend with awlcraft? I know it won't be perfect, I am just looking for experiences from anybody who might have done this or something similar.

I did exactly the same, I moved a bilge through hull 30cm to the left, only my boat is sky blue...
That’s always a problem when your boat is not plain white.
Anyway, we found a similar sky bluish color, we painted it and buffed it, long story short...its perfect!
