Simrad Cruise

Post by John F. »

The screen on old Garmin on my B20 has become unreadable. I want to get a cheap chartplotter/fishfinder to replace it. Whatever I get, I'll need a thru hull or shoot through t-ducer. A transom mount just doesn't work well on my 20. I have a couple of Simrad 7s (evo?) on my B31, and they've been fine.

Anybody try a Simrad cruise? They're really cheap. Any other ideas? And I really want to stay cheap. I fish my B20 in shallow water and light tackle around where I live in mid-Chesapeake Bay.

John

I would stay with either Garmin or Simrad, although Raymarine seems to be making a pretty nice unit.

I would think for the 20 the Garmin Echomap might work for you.

John, how about a used Garmin replacement from eBay if the transducers and all else work on the boat and what you had was functional? Maybe cheap and easy.

Thanks. The only option for a Simrad Cruise is a transom mount t-ducer. I need to figure out another unit. I'll probably just go with a nicer Simrad
