Getting there...

Post by Rickysa »

Got all the important safety/engine stuff done per the survey, new rudders, and since the boat had no electronics and the soft-top was shot, we started from the top:

Nice sturdy 1/2 tower. Like the FF overhead. With the right angle you can see the boomerangs on the screen from the cockpit.

Thanks for the kind words...after the goat rodeo that the first attempt turned into, it sure has been nice that this time has gone smoothly.

I believe it's Hancock and Grandson out of Harkers Island here locally

Randy Guthrie, a son-in-law, runs the Hancock & Grandson pipe welders shop in Harkers Island; and they do fabulous work.

Keep up the great work, Rick! What will be behind the access doors at the transom of your cockpit? What yard is doing the work so I can stick my head in the next time I’m down that way?

Hi Tommy,

I have no idea what is going behind the doors! I saw it for the first time this past weekend...I knew there were issues with the transom (some rot), but to be honest, I did not think they were going to do that much work. I kinda figured we would pretty it up after cleaning out the rot as part of phase 2 (of many :) ) of the restoration.

The boat is in the Jarrett Bay compound; being worked on by "True World Marine". Please stop by!
