BORG WARNER TRANS

Post by Craig Mac »

I have a transmission leak in the back of the tranny-I think it is a rear seal--also have my deck out as I am replacing the tank. How difficult a job is it to replace the seal now that i have good accessability?

Any special tools needed?

Craig,
If you can slide the shaft back to get a socket and ratchet on, you can remove the output flange. You will have to make a tool to hold the flange by the bolt holes.

Replace the seal and the crush sleeve and torque to specs.

I just changed my rear seal, took about 3 hours. Make sure you have enough room when you slide the shaft back . I had to use a socket and pipe wrenches, the ratchet would not fit. Good luck.
what good is a boat if you cant spend all your money and time you dont have working on it.

Transmission is out and at the shop.

At this time was thinking of replacing rear motor mounts--any suggestions for new ones?
