New Detroit 8.2 alternator
I pulled the starboard motor alternator out of the boat, and it just tested bad. Do diesel alternators have to be "marine" like gassers? It also has a 3-wire input and single output. Everything the local guy is coming up with has a two wire input. Any ideas? I'll call Johnson Towers tomorrow, but there usual response is that they don't have anything for the 8.2s

You can probably find help from any good diesel distributor/mechanic to source a starter.
You will find that a lot of the diesel parts are not like gas parts, most are not necessarily ignition protected.
