I will be away from the computer until after Christmas, so I wanted to take the opportunity to wish all of my Sandbox friends a Merry Christmas!!

A merry Christmas to those that celebrate it.
To those that celebrate other events at this holiday time, I wish you the best.
If you don't celebrate anything, take a few days off while the rest of us do.
To everyone a happy and healthy and prosperous New Year.
Thanks for keeping Pat's dream going.
Enjoy......

This seems like a good time for me to thank you guys for all of the helpful responses to my questions as a new Bertram 31 owner. Having spent 40+ years messing around with sail boats I have a bit of a learning curve and some of my questions have probably seemed pretty basic. This list is a great resource and you all have been very welcoming to me. I especially want to thank Tony Meola for sending me manuals for my Mercruisers.
Wishing everyone a great holiday season and a happy, safe, prosperous new year.

Faithful,
Happy holidays to all especially Bruce and Mike O for keeping the sandbox going since Pat's death, I hope 2018 is a better year than 2017. I had to deal with loosing my wife to cancer, loosing my golf partner to a sudden heart attack at 60, my front end man from the fire department of bladder cancer at 70 and having all but one doctor telling me that I needed to fuse or amputate my leg. Thanks again Dr. Pat for setting me up with Dr. Nayfed in Baltimore. Merry Christmas and a better New Year.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah (choose accordingly) to all the great guys on this site. If neither of these cover you, then Happy Festivus to rest of you ("there's Festivus for the rest of us").
We lost another great Bertram steward to cancer last week with the passing of my brother, Eddy; the proud owner of a 1968 Bertram 20 Sportsman. Eddy attended almost all of the NC Rendezvous events, including this past June.

My condolences Tommy, I'm honored to have gotten to meet Eddy. He made this "out of towner" feel at home last summer.
Pete, my condolences on your wife as well, I knew you were fighting the knee again but I didn't know you lost your wife.
Bob, best wishes for your family member.
And to the other Gentlemen (and a few ladies) on this board, thank you for your efforts, wit and wisdom.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and here's wishing you all a Happy New Year.

Faithful,
Thank you all for the condolences for my wife, she passed from breast cancer that had spread throughout her body after going dormant for 4 years. She was quite a lady, an accomplished artist, teacher, horse woman and my best friend after being together for 52 years it's been a pretty hard grind for the last 8 months. She not suffering anymore and maybe someday they will actually find a cure for breast cancer and any other forms of the awful disease. Her web site is marilynfallonfineart.com for those who new her and those that didn't..The holidays are the hardest part of loosing a loved one. Capt. Pat, UV and Walter et al.

Re: Merry Christmas to all!!
To all who are stewards of this site, of Bertram 31s, and Bertrams of all sizes, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year. 2017 presented challenges for several on this site - many with its various weather disasters, and the loss of loved ones. Pete, Tom - please accept my sincerest condolences, and truly hope that 2018 brings the start to a new and very bright chapter for you. I consider myself so lucky to have been able to put on 150+ hours on our '31 in 2017, traveling throughout southern New England in some of the finest cruising areas around. We're giving our 31 a bit of a Christmas present, having both Yanmars heavily maintained - heat exchangers cleaned, new stainless elbows, replacing all hoses (engines 20yrs old this year), fresh paint etc., plus the cockpit re-bedded and repainted. My best to all of the faithful for a safe and enjoyable holiday season, and wish everyone a bright and exciting 2018.

Re: Merry Christmas to all!!
Tommy Drake,
I am sorry to here of your bother Eddy's Passing, my sincere condolences. With all the money that has been raised for cancer research over the past 75 years you would think they would have come up a cure by now. I know it's a big business , between all the research, studies, testing and
drug company interaction I guess that if they did find a cure there would be a lot of un-employed specialists, drug companies going broke (not a chance in hell) the entire medical business revolves around some sort of cancer research in one way or another. The food industry is a major player in the cancer business all the additives they put in the food now a days, what ever happened to cooking in a black cast iron frying pan, now everything is coated with some sort of man made substance that may or may not contribute to a cause for cancer.
I remember my grandmother cooking beans and all natural hot dogs every Saturday, nothing came out of a can or plastic rapped packaging. Hamburg and steak was ground or cut by the local butcher while you watched, not frozen and packed for shelf life of infinity. Just rambling about cancer which takes the love ones that we miss severely. Again Tommy I am sorry for your loss.
I miss sitting in the flop house talking to you and UV, Capt Pat, Snow, and the rest of the faithful. I has to be a better year in 2018 it can't get much worse. Happy New Year to all.

Likewise Pete, condolences for the loss of your dear wife; cancer knows no boundaries.
Reflecting on our visits at the FLL Boat Show warms my heart for sure; what great times they were. And yes, there are more good times in the future for this Bertram crowd! I wish everyone a very Happy 2018!!!
