No, no signs of trouble other than the RPMs not going above 1950. I told them to verify the marine cruise control function was disengaged - it'd be nice if it was something stupid like that. But I'm pretty sure they would have checked that.

Good luck with her. I live on Kent Island and boat/fish out of Prices Creek--first inlet south of Kentmorr. I'll be looking for you on the Bay. And I spent a lot of hours fishing a Tiara 31 offshore. Good boat

just wanted to mention your your name (incoming) would cause quite a pucker factor in jan.1968 . that being said either your primary or secondary fuel filter can cause the engine not come to rated rpm.

Ha! Well hopefully no one is ducking for cover. Jan '68 - Tet offensive, right? My dad went over in '69 (USMC infantry). Never has talked about it much.

Anyway - good news on the B38. They were able to get her out today after changing the secondary fuel filters and both engines spun up to 2600 no problem and 30.6 kts

They ran it for 5 minutes with no issues with temps, etc.

That being said they only verified the 2600 with the analog gauges. When I get the boat I want to put a phototach on them and see if i can make 2650 or so. Otherwise I'm thinking I might need to take a little out of the props. I'd like to err on the side of being "underpropped" and lose a little high end but gain a little extra life on the engines.

yes tet ----bad times. ok you can decrease top speed and dramatically increase cruise speed and fuel economy with prop changes . let the problems you just encounted in testing be a lesson. change primary and secondary filters before any other troubleshooting when rpm falls off. cummins Bosch 7100 fuel injection pump does not like crud!!
