Anyone hear from Peter lately?

Post by Carl »

PM'ed him a couple times to see how surgery went, how he was coming along.
He had a couple complications that set him back and was looking doubtful he'd make it to the Shelter Island Rendezvous, but he seemed to be on the mend.
AnyWho- dropped him a pm last week and haven't heard back...wondering if anyone that has a more direct line for checking in with him can share how he's doing or just let him know we're pulling for him.

Carl

At the get together Bob Lilco said he was struggling. Evidently the surgery did not go well. I don't know anything more. Hopefully Bob has been in touch with him.

Hey guys thanks for thinking of me. I am doing well taking it easy and very slow. On a modified work schedule trying to get back in the saddle. Not capable of much physically yet but I'm coming along.

Finally after 4 months we took the old girl out! Wish I could post a few pictures. I can bounce up and down the bridge, run up to the bow to tie and untie lines. Got bounced around in the inlet. Woke up this morning no pain. Game on I’m back!

Can't believe it is coming up on a year. Tests today, follow up with the Doc on Friday. Everything seems good thus far, hoping to be out on the water Saturday!!!!

*Looking back on this thread I realize my illness was a bit mysterious, so let me explain it's no secret. Around 4th of July they found a cancerous tumor on my kidney the size of a golf ball but it was caught early. I had part of my kidney removed, while they successfully removed the cancer and part of my kidney I had a number of complications and ended up spending 13 days in the hospital. That part of it was bad, internal bleeding, blood transfusions unknown illness; super scary, 3 surgeries and countless drugs and test I made it home. No radiation no chemo, but around the holidays they found out my surgeries didn't heal properly and I had another surgery to fix post surgical hernias around the incisions. Another period out of work and around the end of April I felt good enough to resume physical activities. I feel normal again, wrestling with the kids, doing labor intensive yard work, running on a treadmill.

Test results were great. No signs of cancer, don't have to go back for a year. Very happy PSA levels are good, a few small hernias and kidney stone that aren't bothering me or getting worse. We got out on the boat Sunday for an hour in the fog, but I'm ready to go now!

That is Great news Peter!

You must have been out pretty early on Sunday. We left dock around 9:30 looking like rain, kinda foggy but by the time we hit the entrance of the harbor the sun punched thru giving us a few perfect hours of fishing. Okay, not perfect as no keepers...but we got out, brought in some fish, snagged a nice "net" and ran back in for a family BBQ at sisters.

Actually the opposite, didn't look so good in the morning. We held off to after lunch, it was partly sunny. Went out got totally fogged in, couldn't see anything. Got back to the dock, cleaned the boat, the fog lifted, clouds parted and it was a perfect afternoon on land. Adding the radar dome is the last thing on my punch list of updated the electronics, soon rather then later after that trip...

If you don't have a hailer horn, you might consider adding one. Most VHF radios have a fog horn function.

When we used to have rendezvous on Block Island, it was essential......
