Fuel Tank Length +6"?

Post by JohnV8r »

Guys,

Any reason why I should NOT add 6" to the length of the fuel tank?

I have the space to easily add 6" to the transom end of the fuel tank. That would add 19 gallons of capacity, which would translate to 114 lbs (not including additional weight of the extra tank). Any center of balance or exhaust issues with that?

I know some of you have added fuel capacity when you put in new tanks. I'm looking for some feedback please. I have to approve the final tank drawing today and it will be my last chance to add capacity if I want.

Thanks in advance!

Just do it!... The additional weight is of mostly theoretical consequence... Just think of what a teenager standing at the transom does for your boat... Basically nothing...

My teenage son standing at the transom is exactly what I thought of. LOL! I just wanted to confirm that there were not any unforeseen issues I had not contemplated.

+6" has now been ordered.

Thanks guys!

JohnV8er,
Go for it, the more fuel the better, it's not enough to effect the performance of the boat, it might make it a little harder to get to the aft bilge pump but that's about all that's in that space on most 31's.
