Capt. Pat, channel & fuzzy question

Post by ed c. »

My son has given me the job working on the side window frames. I know I need 2 fuzzies for each channel, but I forget about the bottom of the channel which the glass slides on. To make it easy could you give me a call at 609-675-6345 . I really appreciate all the help you have given me and the other folks on this site. Thanks

I was just cleaning the small stern Windows and saw the plastic channel for the bottom. I just hope they still sell it.

Ed,

American Marine has now become a division of Pompanette.

They don't do custom windows any longer.

I bought a spool of that plastic from Richard Bertram years ago, but gave it to Skip at Brewer Street Boatworks in Newport, RI. I figure since he is on Bertrams often, doing work, he could use it more than I. Give him a ring and maybe he can send you what you need.

I wish I could remember who I bought the fuzzy stuff from when I replaced that too. It was a while ago. Anyway, the plastic is tougher to find and really important! Glass sliding on metal frames is not good...

Good luck!

They are now in New Hampshire and have increased their prices quite a bit.

You might try Chuck from Waterway Systems in Sarasota Fl. #941-752-3554.

He and I spoke at length about my firewall windows. Awesome guy!!!

I second that with Chuck at Waterway Systems! I sent him my old Bertram Baron windshield and he transformed it - like night and day and at a very reasonable cost. I recommend him highly.

I think we have found a glass slider that replaces the fuzzy and the plastic bottom slider. It is exactly 7/16 wide, the same as the original window. We will know for sure on Friday, and I will post the results and where to buy it at the best possible price.

Sam's Marine in Fort Lauderdale has the fuzzy stuff and the plastic channel side stuff.
However note they are really a vintage Hatteras supplier bought the above from them and it does fit the Bertrams.
