Windows in my 25 express, glass replacement

Post by Howesounder »

Hello again all. The glass in the express windshield windows and the side ones too, have delaminated, and now are foggy about 1-2 inches in all the way around. Kind of a real fuggly look. I had a look today, and it looks as if the backing part of the frame is wider than the outside part of the frame. So I removed some of the caulking, and it looks as if......maybe, I can just cut out all of the caulking and the glass can come right out allowing me to take them to a glass shop for replacement. Looks to be a very tight fit, but potentially doable?

I had a local boat window place make me a new inside port side sliding window, frame and all, as there were broken panes, and the aluminum had been hacked. It fit right in, and looks great.

Removed the plastic trim and the windows came out. New glass is going in well sitting on mastic strips for bedding, and since all of the hold down trim was "done" I am going to silicone the windows in place. Used 6 mm laminated glass.

When you get a chance you should post some pics so some of the other 25 owners can see how you did your repairs.

I would like to post some pics, but have tried to follow the instructions on this and other sites, and have failed. Not that this is a complaint on this wonderful site,....... but more of an indication of my lack of computer capability.

I have not tried, but you need to use a photo hosting sight like SnapFish, and copy over from that point.
