weatherstripping
Good morning Faithful.
What's everyone using for weatherstripping on the bow hatch?
Not really into using the self sticking foam stuff.
Thank you in advance for any and all replies.

Re: weatherstripping
Eric-
I used:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FS8 ... ge_o09_s00
and am pleased. My hatched warped slightly along the way and I needed the extra heft of this seal.
Now other stuff up front leaks but not the hatch...
Best,
S

Eric,
Did you stick it under the hatch or on the deck rim? Thanx.

Yannis-
I put my weatherstripping on the hatch side. My children slide in an out of the hatch and I think that the deck side was not a viable choice as they would abrade it.
After getting the hatch cleaned up from the old weatherstripping and wiped clean with acetone, I closed the hatch and traced around the opening with a pencil. I then used the pencil line to guide sticking on the weatherstripping. I started/finished the run at the aft (hinge) side of the hatch. The pencil line was especially helpful in the corners. If I was trying for a Capt. Pat level of execution I should have used small jar or large dowel as a form to make the corner radii consistent.
Best,
S

Thank you Stefan.
I thought so too, that it would be best to stick it on the hatch itself. Also the deck perimeter presenting a narrow horizontal surface and being at a slope justifies the action taken. As for the execution, you did it because you believed you could do it, right?

I have been advised as to how to carry out difficult chores many times too. Both by Capt Patrick as well as by other members. Very interesting group of people. With very diverse knowledge. All shot in the head with this ....invigorating "love boating" bullet!!!
Enjoy your boat.
