1994 Bertram Moppie 30'

Post by Fishin Tom »

Does anyone know if the fuel tank in the 94 Bertram Moppie is made with something other than polyester resin and gel coat.

I was hoping it is Vinyl- ester or epoxy but I don't have the boat here yet to determine the construction.

It is a gas boat and reportedly has fuel tank issues. The boat has only 135 original hours and has been stored for several years.

The Moppie is coming to my business to be serviced and determine problems in vessel that has been on the beach for a long period of time. After conquering those issues the boat will be detailed and put on the market to be brokered for a long time customer.
So I'm not pulling any engines or getting too crazy with any renovations or changes.

If you would like to buy the boat the engines are included

Tom,
Here is some information from the bertram33.com site. http://www.bertram33.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4074
I also have a 1998 30' Moppie and have had no tank issues except at the initial change over when the ethanol cleaned the sediment out of the tank.

Tommy,
All the Bertram's had regular FRP resin laid up tanks, the tag on the top says not meant for methanol blended fuels. Ethanol didn't hit the marine market until the early 200'0's.
