Steve,
I suspect that the answer may be along the reply I made to Nav about a tower. http://bertram31.com/newbb/viewtopic.ph ... 03#p109705

Re: Latest up grades to Reel Cowboy
That is exactly why Patrick. The season when he used that boat the most was the roughest sea and made for him that tower unusable. Here are some more game hog pictures he bribed me into posting.

Re: Latest up grades to Reel Cowboy
John built himself heck of a boat.
However, from those pictures of him fishing, and don't tell his wife, it looks like he is cheating on his mistress. That is not a Bertram.

Re: Latest up grades to Reel Cowboy
I'm amazed every time I see a 31 that someone has uniquely customized. I was interested in spray rails but this is one very nice boat. The area forward of the e engines is yet another potential idea.

Rick,
Reel Cowboy is just as sharp looking today as 5 years ago. John fishes her regularly but keeps her in tip top condition. The bay boat is a Tran Sport XLR8 that John had the Tran’s customize her for his specific fishing needs.
He is defiantly a boat guy.

Tony
I talked with John today. We catch up pretty regularly. He said to tell the gang hi. He hasn’t logged on much the last couple of years. He’s just living the John Cranston life, which for you guys that know him.... ain’t too shabby. He’s still tearing up the fish every chance he gets.
Pam switched companies fairly recently, which she’s enjoying, but the new gig is keeping her busy.
John said he’s been very happy with the spray rails and that they are very effective. They were custom made by a local fellow named Salvador. Salvador does good work, he’s done a few of my friends’ boats. I think he is in San Leon Tx.
Rick, John said if you had any questions to give him a shout. PM me if you want his number.

Re: Latest up grades to Reel Cowboy
Anybody can explain what spray rails are?
Couldn't find any on the pic either...
Thanks.

Re: Latest up grades to Reel Cowboy
Spray rails could also be called spray deflectors...its added on and directs the spray down and out. On Reel Cowboy the boot stripe does a great job of disguising them. His are added on at the chine. Look for the pictures with yellow boat with side exhaust shot, the spray rails can really bee seen there.

not glue...tape!
If ya can't fix it with tape, it ain't broke.
VHB Tape, joking aside 3M puts out some incredible products and their VHB "Very High Bond" tape works very well. But yeah...something uneasy about sticking a price spray rail up there and expecting it to take such punishment.

Re: Latest up grades to Reel Cowboy
Well when I posted this last night I started to think about how well they would stay on. Found a post from a guy that said 4 years before one started to let loose. He re-attached it with 5200 and got another 4 years before he had to fix it again.
Wasn't a 31 and I was wondering how fast he runs and what type of sea he push's it through. So looks like you have to tighten up every few years.
