Maui fishing

Post by Dug »

How is the fishing on the west side of Maui during the second half of March? Any boat recommendations?

Thanks,

Dug

I have fished with "Start Me Up Sportfishing" several times with great success. They run Yanmar powered Black Fin 29's good clean boats run by good guys. That time of year you are looking at a mixed bag of everything from Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado or Mahi, and of course Marlin. You will most definitely see a bunch of Hump Back Whales as well. Start me up is located in the Lahaina Marina (808) 667-2774. You can also follow their daily catch on Bloody Decks.com . Good luck and have a great trip. Some restaurant suggestions not that you asked but Mala Grill is out of this world also located on Front Street in Lahaina, a great place for breakfast is Lahaina Coolers, has a 1000 lb. Marlin on the wall that was of course caught behind a Bertram 31 on Kona. Marimans in Napili is also very good.
