There Will be Another

Post by Rocky »

So my brothers, sad to say I had to part with my old girl as financial complications persisted for too long. I will miss her, as my blood sweat and tears went into her for 6 years now. BUT, I learned a wealth of skills and know-how from everyone here and trial/error in which I will carry with me forever, thank you everyone here for such a wonderful experience and helping me learn how to rebuild a boat. Also, it ain't over for me and my quest for a 31 and be able to run it- it will always have a place in my heart(stems from childhood)!! I even have a "master plan" to get one and someday run it as a 4 pack charter business if I have the energy when I reach the end of my auto tech career. I still visit the site from time to time just because there is such a diverse and knowledgable crew here, such an interesting site it sure beats reading any magazine.

Well dang Rocky......hate to hear the news......

Just don't give up. These 31's are getting less expensive everyday and I am sure there is one out there with your name on her, somewhere.

Anymore you can buy a already running 31 for much less than you can purchase a project 31 and restore her.

To have a 31 project HAS to be one of love and passion for a Bertram 31.

You'll get there.......I'm sure

Thanks guys, I will definately keep an eye out for the future31.
There is one here in Berkeley for sale with 6BTAs but way too much $ considering how soft the market is now. Melissa and I went and looked at it- rough to say the least. Owner bought an Albin! This 31 is not a FBC with private head, only bulkhead. Not that I'm looking right now, but I like to "kick the tires" and check out boats anyway.
This one's got 250 hrs since 2005, ouch. Gotta be hard on engines.
Asked the salesman do they get run as I'm looking at the 3feet of seaweed on the bottom, he said yes of course.
He lowered his price from 80 to 69k soon after I gave salesman comps printed out with ave $ between 50-58.
Mr. John V8r please give me a ring, we havn't talked for a while!

Had to be hard to see her go...

I know that feeling as my vette went down the street without me behind the wheel a few years ago. A bit of a gulp in the back of the throat...eyes have that pressure building as you say...what a pretty car...good times.

But it was off to somebody who can build it into dreams of their own.

...and I had an empty garage again....for a short time anyway. Kids filled that space up in what seemed like only days.

The time will come again.

Site is for those who enjoy the 31...whether admire from a distance, own or wish to own. My humble opinion anyway.

So don't forget to Log On more often then not.

Hey, Rocky!

So sorry to hear this - but the market's only getting softer, so the next one should be a winner!

All the best,

Thank you John P, I'm counting on the market getting even softer, and letting that price drop even more on a diesel 31 coming my way already done.
Hey I just had a thought, now that Melissa and I are not putting all that money into epoxy and glass, we can afford to making a rendezvous run on east coast!

Rocky, once you have Bertram running in your blood it doesn't end with a sale..keep the north east rendezvous in mind when planing a getaway..great group of guys ..BH

You know Bob, your absolutely right- I don't think the "Bertram Bug" will ever leave you once you have it, it's a great feeling though expensive! Melissa and I will definitely keep the rendezvous idea as high on the vacation destination list, sounds like an awesome time there.
