Time for the Port hip to be done.

Post by In Memory Walter K »

Well, you guys know I had my starboard hip replaced in Mid December and now it's deemed time to replace the port one. I'll be going into NY tomorrow and the surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. If all goes like last time, I'll be discharged on Friday and will be back home that evening. Hopefully, I'll be a human being soon and not lurching around to get from place to place. The boat will be behind Spring schedule by a month, but if the second hip does the job it will be well worth it.
Talking about something being worth it. If any of you have the chance, stop by Brewster Minton's Seafood Shop and Restaurant in Hampton Bays, just west of Shinnecock Canal. My wife and I stopped by for lunch last week and Brewster gave us the full tour of the facilities. It's fantastic, as is the smoked fish sampler. It's served as an appetizer, but is a meal in itself!
Looking foward to another lunch there in about a month! Walter

Good luck Walter!! My godfather who originally bought my boat had both of his done a year ago at 81 and he is a new man!! He killed his 50th and 51st turkeys last year and is looking to add to the score this year at 82! All of the pain and inconvenience of the surgeries and PT was well worth it! Medicine is amazing these days.

Speedy recovery Walt, hope everthing goes well. I fly to Boston April 3 to see what they can do with my knee, after 11 operations in the past 29 years of trying to fix it, maybe they can finally get it right this time.

Garry- Those big Pacific Sailfish on a flyrod had a lot to do with my deciding to get those hips done. I'm home now after the second surgery. Nothing like a little surgery to remind you that you're human! Thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers. Walter
