Capt Pat, I'm very sorry to hear he has passed, but thanks for letting us know. Mike, thanks for letting me know he was sick, it gave me a chance to say goodbye. It was good that UV saw the many lives he touched before leading us on to our next journey. That's a rare gift. Like many here, I never me...

Pete I'm from Ct originally, and moved to NH back in the 80's. However about 9 or 10 years ago I bought the 31 express, old horse eye. I was going to rebuild it, and I spoke to you, Capt Pat, and UV for advice. I think we spoke on the phone a couple of times, about your 31, fishing, and your knee. I...

Charlie J, It's a small world back in the late 80's I installed a bunch of electronics in Jeff Kamens LARC. VietNam era half boat half truck, like the Duck Tour boats. He had a island in Long Island Sound some where?, I had a standing invite and a fist full of his island money, never got to use it....

Hi Pete Nope, mine was the old horse eye out of Niantic Ct. that 980 back in '82 is/was a nice fish. there are still some pigs around, just not like back then. we still fish the old haunts (outer flag, the curl, etc), and have even gotten a few. but the size is down. my last fish was 2 yrs ago (didn...

Guy's, I used to fish along side one of the principals of the show, Billy Monty on the Bounty Hunter, he had a 28 Topaz back in the early 70's. He was a good fisherman back then, let's see what the TV producers did to his ego now. I wish Ed Murray was still alive to see this program, he and Frankie...

Hey Mike, long time no talk..... Them UVI's were something special. Timmy is doing pretty much the same thing as you, he destroyed his hatt trying to reconstruct it (that's a long story) and now raises bird dogs and hunts and mountain bikes alot. I borrowed some tuna gear from him last season, but ...

Glad they're ok. Sounds like many things went wrong on them. Darwin award is right tho. Going offshore without an epirb is asking for trouble. Scot You forgot logs, trees, and telephone poles! Lots of fun things coming down the river after the spring rains. Into June you need to keep an eye on the water when running. Was out for tuna yesterday and had whales and a seal around the boat. Unfortunately no fish, but that's fishing. Doug L, eve...

Hi Max I'm out of portsmouth NH. Don't do much cruising, mostly fishing, for now. Love the area, lots of options. Great fishing, inside for stripers, blues, flounder. Offshore, and in the spring you don't have to go far, you have ground fish (cod, haddock, cusk, etc). We've got Jeffries ledge due ea...

thanks Walter. but it's not a length, rather a width issue. They're a little wider, and not quite as deep where they connect to the controls. So they stick out a little. The originals were real close as it was (maybe 1/8-1/4" clearance with the wheel). So the new ones hit the wheel. I'm not sure i c...

tower station question
I replaced my bridge canvas, and this project has become the classic onion. Removed all of my antannaes, the upper station etc. to put the new canvas on. While the tower station was down i decided to replace the corroded handles on the controls. Turns out they don't make the handles anymore (morse) ...

Scott It's been a couple of years, but up in Ct, Mass, NH, and Maine I've seen (and paid) ~200 for a decent/good used #80 class bent butt rod. The reels depend on what they are, i.e. 130 2sp, old 130's, etc. A decent 130 will fetch around 500 or more depending on condition. I've seen them as low as ...

Have either of you been out? Weather's been so crappy we haven't done any fishing yet. There was a bite in June, but it's gone radio silent. Have either of you heard of anything happening?
