Re: Wits End

Thank you for the kind comments concerning Wits End. My son, who grew up on the Wits End, including attending many years of the great NE Rendezvous, was fishing with his friends. Re: Cummins 6BTA 300 HP-Wits End-Emergency

I was not there when the events unfolded. My son indicated that the throttle was at cruise 2,200 RPM. After a few minutes the RPM's of the starboard engine dropped after some metal "clanking". The engine still idled but would not spool up. The boatyard first indicated that it could have been the fue...

Cummins 6BTA 300 HP-Wits End-Emergency

Within an hour of being in the water on the way to Montauk NY from the North Fork, the starboard Cummins (1989) of Wits End commited suicide. No compression at all in No.1 cylinder. If anyone has an idea concerning how I can locate a short block or a replacement engine, please let me know. I can be ...

Port Judith works for us, although Montauk (Star Island) is now where we have moved Wits End for the year and perhaps forever. Let us know what the overall plans are for your August travel.

I received the same NYS letter requesting sales tax proof. The NYS letter alleged that the state of NY had discovered the 31 in a marina--yada, yada, yada. Hampton Bays will work well for West LI and NJ, but may be a problem for some Mass owners. Any location will work for us.
If I had to choose, Brewsters is the way to go----great food--and less expensive location overall than Montauk, BI and MV.

The lesser wire to the solenoid harness from the ignition failed coupled with ongoing harness connection deterioration. I suspect it took both occurances acting simultainously for the solenoid to fail.
