Scott-
There a couple of sets in boat diesel. The ones by Siebert have been there awhile. That may be another way to go.

Scott- They may be giving you Merc. manifolds, but it looks like a package somebody put together on a GM longblock. The distributor/coil is delco, which I believe is GM and that Merc. used their own stuff, and the carb is a Holley, where I thought Mercs. came with Rochesters. I'd ask alot of questio...

Scott- Sounds OK to me, but who's doing the marinizing--quality/design of raw water manfolds, pumps, etc. matters. If they're new old stock mercs. or crusaders, I'd jump on it. I thought that GM 454s for marine use at one point had different cranks/pistons than car motors. Don't know if that's the c...

To me, its has nothing to do with looks, its a matter of money. You can do a nice inboard gas repower and have some $$ left over for what'll cost for a pair of outboards and a bracket. I really, really like outboards--but you'll put alot of $$ into the boat. If you really want an outboard boat, I'd ...

DoOver- If you really want to trailer, you may want to look at boats with an 8'6" beam or less--they're trailerable pretty much everywhere. The B25 has a wider beam than that, and you legally can't trailer without special permits, at least in MD. That may not be a big deal to some, or a big deal if ...

In addition to the B31, I think Ray Hunt designed the Wellcraft V-20 which also won some races. Lots of good hulls out of the race circuit--Formula 233 (Don Arronow) was another former raceboat hull. The 233 spawned alot of nice boats--Albe 24 and Contender to name a couple. Hatts have won races.......

Fuel tank intallation Question 1
OK--the tank is out, and I've cleaned up the old foam. I'm debating how many "while I have the decks up" I want to tackle, and may just do what's needed for the tank install. First question-- In the bottom of the bilge are two half-round fiberglass tubes running fore and aft that channel the bilge w...

Tank Removal
Tank is drained, the bronze fill and pick-ups are removed, and its been flushed with water. I was able to get 2x4s by about 12" down each of the fill holes, and ran long threaded rods through the 2x4s and up to 4x4s that I put across the deck supports. Cranked on the threaded rods and let sit overni...

Bill- My current plan, if I get a break from work, is to take my original tank out in the next few weeks or so and get an aluminum tank made. My tank (1969 31FBC) has never been exposed to ethanol, and looks to be in prety good shape. If I stick with my plan on retanking, and I don't have to cut it ...

Raybo- I remember that day , I think I even told you that you could probably use the deck as-is. Did you ever re-core it? Didn't have to. I just ground out the little delamination spots, filled with West, and on it went. Still looks good, and will be coming off this winter when I replace the tank, t...

Sounds like a good plan. Spray everything with Corrosion X so that the manifold and riser bolts come off a little less hard (I don't think they're ever easy). I have the log-style manifolds on my 454s--I wondered if center risers would fit... When I replaced my risers/elbows, the prices at the local...

B31 gas tank R&R
The Anna E. is on the hard, and the tank project is about to start. I figure first step is to syphon all the gas out of the tank, take off the fittings on the top of the tank, and then stick a hose in tank and fill her up with water to make sure all the fumes are out. Sound OK?

I put a 12K BTU Cruisair under the forward seat in the cabin, with an outlet on the dash going through the hanging locker. Dan- My experience was kinda' like Tommy's. I had thought about pulling the carpet out and painting the sides white, but it would've required alot of sanding to get all the old glue off and then fairing. I went with rubber backed real short carpet (mousehair?) that I bought from Lowe's for about $35...

Fogging oil doesn't look like anti-freeze. The mechanic should be able to tell you what it was. Compression can be fine even though the risers are shot. Last I checked, risers and gaskets were around $150 each (x4), and are relatively easy to put on. If the boat is old an has been sitting, I'd do bo...

OK, I'll be the contrary one. Blues are great smoked and blackened. Ice 'em, and clean them as soon as you hit the dock (or on the boat), cut out the blood line, and eat them that night. They're also pretty good in a fish stew. They may not taste as good as rock/stripers, but they're more fun to cat...

I'm mid-Bay by Annapolis. My season pretty much goes from early-April to get ready for the spring Rock/Striper season, to mid-November for the fall season. Spring season is great for about 3-4 weeks. I spoke to a marine carb place, Summitt Racing, and e-mailed Edlebrock. The marine carb place and Summitt said to go with the 600cfm for my application--lots of time at idle (trolling) and at steady 2800-3000 rpms. Summitt also told me that that as a rough estimate the 600cfm was enough carb for up ...
