I don't know much of anything about go fasts, but, having grown up on LI, I've always been partial to Superboats and Hustlers. I had a friend here that had a 24' Switzer with a single BB that ran close to 70. He got tired of it and just about gave it away. Yeah, I know, I should've bought it--but br...

Your buddy might want to take a look here http://www.screamandfly.com/forum.php Seems like alot of go fasts for sale in different forms (O/B, I/O) to look at. A long time ago, there was a Bertram 20 Sportsman on there from Texas that sold right away for cheap. Having a friend with a go fast is a goo...

He was probably referring to Bertram's bonehead decision to abandon the 31 in favor of replacing it with the Hyena Boat (the 28)....of which they sold a ton, but still look today like a hyena dragging its butt on the ground.....and are of limited value on the used market as opposed to the 31. I'm f...

After a 2 day trip up--first leg to Charlie Haws' and next day to Montauk, Crow's Nest blew a gear oil-cooler on the way home. We happened, on a 330 or so mile trip, to blow that a few miles from Mattituck inlet--where my parents live. So, we put in. Broke an outrigger pole on the way up, and a fish...

Matt- Yeah. It was pretty easy to build, cheap, and its held up well. When I got the boat, it had a diamond plate steel pulpit (heavy and ugly) on it that had to go, and I needed a pulpit of roughly the same dimensions to cover up the marks and holes on the foredeck. http://i130.photobucket.com/albu...

I bought mine new in 1991--my first and only new boat. I ran her for 7 years on the Chesapeake, was not gentle, and never had a problem with her. I was fishing with a friend and was running to another spot in some decent water for a 20--maybe 3-4s that you get in the Bay. My friend had a Grady and w...

Good eye. I'm pretty sure the V20 was a Hunt design. I had a V20 cuddy with a 150 Yamaha OB, and now have a B20 with a 200 Yamaha OB. The V20 had a really fine entry and not much reserve bouyancy in the bow. She rode pretty well at speed, but on a slow troll in anything rough and steep--like slow tr...

I took a ride on that boat with Doug C, John D, and Harv at AC a couple of years ago. It had plenty of power, but was way to fast at idle and seemed like a bit of a handful aroung the dock--in an out of gear like a big diesel sportfish. I like the way my B20 with a 200 Yamaha feels and goes alot bet...

Welcome Hilary...so after all this, I guess you figured it out right? It's up to you. Yup. Get the B31 that's works for you and how you'll use it. I like the glassed in windshield, upper helm only, for offshore use. For my use here on the Bay, the regular windshield is nice to have, and I wish I ha...

At the recommendation of the tank bulder (Patriot in NJ), I 5200ed neoprene strips to the bottom flat and v part of the tank. No foam. I also had 2 flanges welded to the top forward of the tank so it bolts into the bulkhead, and a couple of other flanges for lifting. I also had 3 pick-ups and 3 retu...

It interesting that a fair number of the faithful also have whalers--the 13 whaler that started it all was a Ray Hunt design. Beautiful day yesterday on the Chesapeake--spent the afternoon pulling my daughter and her friends around on a tube behind my BW Montauk. The 15s are nice--my introduction to...
