Advice on Listing Price for My '62 Express

Gentlemen, I have a 1962 Express Cruiser. I was highly customized by the P.O., with hardwood window frames, hardtop, and interior. She is powered by twin TAMD41b Volvos (I know many of you don't like these engines--but they've been good to me). I just did full cooling system on both motors, and just...

No we don't have an engine sync.

I will check the grounding of the tachs. Figure that may be the problem.

Wiring Issue with Tachs

Okay guys, I have a riddle for you. On the 62 bert we just bought, have a mechanic doing a bunch of things to her to get her right. One of the issues was/is the starboard tachometer. When on starboard engine is running, the tach works fine. When port engine is fired up, starboard tach starts jumping...

in a move that can only described as not thinking ahead, the swim step was removed while out of the water after the survey to have the rusted out fastners replaced, but my broker forgot to tell his repairman to have the deck refinished while it was off the boat. My fault for not staying involved in ...

Advice for Stripping Varnish off a Swim Step

Hello all, as some may recall I purchased a 62 Express Cruiser last fall, and am enjoying the labor of love that it is. She's almost up to standards. The next project I want to tackle is the really cruddy swimstep. It's teak, and it has years of varnish, with non-skid mixed in (at least I think so)....

new deck

Boys, I am looking to replace the deck on my 62 Bert Express. The fellow that did the rebuild on the boat used some cheesy home depot indoor wood flooring on the decks, and it looks okay but will not last more than a season. It's that veneer floor that is already buckling. Don't know why he used it ...

Survey Results

Survey went pretty well. Rudder posts need to be replaced, as there are signs of some leakage.

Other than that, boat seems to list to starboard for some reason that we can't figure out. Maybe the head, and galley adding a little weight to that side.

name

Thanks Carl. Yes she is quite eye-catching with the covers off. Got alot of looks cruising thru the harbor on our way out....

the name, well, this was part of the deal with the Mrs. If I got a boat, I'd name it after her...so she's going to be christened....

Almost There on a 63 Express Cruiser

Gentlemen, a while back I asked for some advice on a potential purchase of a 62 (turned out to be a 63) Express Cruiser. For reasons that I don't need to get into, escrow has been longer than expected. Just did the sea trial saturday, and survey is tomorrow. I am excited about this purchase. I know ...

The Hardtop isn't original, it's all custom. I will try to get down there this weekend and strip the covers off and snap some photos. All of the window framing has been redone in teak, and windows are dark tinted. After looking thru this great site, and seeing some of the beautiful expresses (such a...

Patrick, You are right about me not being a hardcore fisherman. As much as I would like to be one, not enough time, or experience to fall in that category. 200 mile round trippers are definitely not in my future anytime soon. her use will be local fishing off of Orange County (California); trips to ...

Thanks guys

I had a bad feeling you all were going to say that...I am getting such a great deal on this boat, that I think I will still go thru with it if they get the clean bill...I am assuming that a repower even with reman'd diesels would cost me more than what I am paying for this boat...any thoughts on wha...

Advice on a Potential Purchase (62 Express Cruiser)

Gentlemen, I am now in escrow on what I believe to be one of the most beautiful b31 Express Cruisers out there. Sea trial next week, survey and mechanical survey following. Boat has been redone completely. Here's the question, and it has to do with the engines (and I know I am going to probably get ...
