Since we ae on the subject of bearings, what about using the bearings I see that actually don't have a ball bearing in them. Its just a bronze tube that has a flange on the bottom. I see them listed as rudder bearings? Any advantages or disadvantages.?

I have Costa Del Mar. I need prescriptions also. Its tough finding a local eye glass shop that handles them. If you can ge who ever you go to for your regular glasses to give you all the specs, i.e. center of the lens measurement etc. Costa will make them up.

Are they originals? Depending on the demand and how desperate you are it could be almost any number. I sold a pair of big blocks out of a 75 31 FBC and got $1200 for the pair with Transmissions. I was happy to just get rid of them. Otherwise it would have been off to the junk yard.

I don't know how they are going to hold up in areas that are shallow. Since you don't have to navigate Barnegat Bay you have no worries. I bet one of those on that bay will be high and dry about 50% of the time.

Drawing only 3 feet of water makes me nervous at times.

I would think that on a boat it would be pretty easy to spray down every thing yourself as long as you are carefull. Try going on line to Epest supply. They sell all kinds of things for termites, including the Boric Acid treatment which would be a little safer than chemicals.
