The 31 also came up about 30 to 50 gallons short on gas for run to the hudson. I can still see the extra fuel we used to carry on board and yelling please, no smoking. That was before I got older and wiser.

If you want structural fiberglass for the shelf check out Mcmaster Carr. Thats were I ordered mine. It is the same style as Giff's but his does not look like its made out of glass. My tag is now unreadable after being exposed to the elements during this repower. But it had 220 gallons marked on it but nothing about 230. I guess I will find out when I finish this up and put her in the spring since the tank is now empty.

The specifications I have for our 75 and for the silver anniversary model says capacity is 220. I thought at one point they did have a 230 gal. tank but I have never come across one.

The thickness of the glass changed in 1973. Its a pretty good differance. My 1975 FBC carries 220 gallons of fuel and Bertram lists the boat at 10,000lbs. If you don't want to mount it to the widshield and you use it in different cars, look for the dashboard friction mount to go onsale. I have one and I can attest, it does not move, even when the car is sliding sideways. Don't ask.

As I noted above you can eliminate the spacers, they are not really needed. You will not find them, 3 years ago I all over and only found one. Its a futile search, trust me.

Actully I put Bilge Coat over the interprotect. I got the idea from DYI magazine but the only used interprotect. They claim the interprotect blocks oils etc. Plus I figure it protects the hull from absorbing water that lays in the bilge.

I am trying to follow your description of the companion way. It sounds like a lot of work but would really love to eliminate screws. Sounds like the engine box helps to hold them in place.

The interlux barrier coat is an epoxy and comes in white. Just not glossy. Mine is only on a couple of weeks so I can tell you how it will hold up. Only time will tell.

I just finished mine so I am not sure how its going to hold up, but I put down 3 coats of Interprotect in white, then 3 coats of Bilge Coat. I am not sure how well the bilge coat will hold up, but I am sure the Interprotect will hold up underneath it just fine.
