John Thanks for the number and the offer to climb up on the Hound. I am going to have talk with the Cummins dealer tomorrow, since the boat is in his yard. Giff, right now I am light on the electonics draw, but I am planning for when the economy and my pocket book recover. I would love to add radar ...

Are 5 batteries overkill
I am wondering how many batteries those that have repowered with diesels are using. We are about to start laying out the wiring for the repower with 270 Cummins. The Cummins dealer is suggesting a put two group 31's to start each enginge and one for the house bank. His feeling is that while this is ...

Steve Thanks. First time I ever heard of them. I just spoke to an outfit at the AC boat show called Sharktested. They hand Costa's and Ocean Wave. Not sure exactly what the deal is but he said that they use a lab that uses the Costa lense's to make the prescriptions. I am going to have to call aroun...

Capt. Pat Given Bob's love for speed I figured he's typing at 200 miles an hour. Got to love it though. I actually enjoy reading about his methods. In fact I am looking at his companion way set up for my boat. I love the idea of no screws to hold the engine panels in place. That's why I said, great ...

Thanks guys. I will have to search around. I know of a place down on Long Beach Island that makes polarized clipons. Don't know how good they are band the place is only open in the summer. Which by my calculations is hopefully right around the corner. This winter is getting to be too long and we are...

Capt. I have an old pair of black Nylon frames. If I remember right they were a sport frame, I would say almost an Aviator style. They don't make them anymore. Loved them, but I have heard stories of the lenses delaminating, that's why the question, otherwise I would have just purchased Costa's agai...

I have been wearing Prescription Costa Del Mars for about 15 years and due to a new prescription its time for an update, plus its time to update those 15 year old frames they keep putting new lenses in. I am hearing that there are problems with Costa Del Mar's so I was wondering what those in the kn...

Capt. Pat never considered the shattering view point of a fiberglass pad when we did ours. Trying to move away from potential rot and figured if they did it at the factory today, they probably would have used galss of some type. But your point is well taken, and I am too far along to grind it out an...

Bob I am amazed at what you learned from your racing days. I would assume that someplace in your back ground you learned engineering to understand all this stuff. While, for the normal boater, this may not be were we would put our money, its interesting to see and understand how everyone tweeks ther...

Not sure if they ship overseas but you can also use 1/2 thick fiberglass sheet that you can order from Mcmastercarr. That's what we used.

Guys, guys, guys. Go easy. Harry and I said it, no matter which way you go on this, outboards or Diesels you are in this for 60 or better. I say better and others here will agree. The cheapest way out is to dropped in a new pair of big blocks. But lets put that aside and lets look at targeted specie...

Without blinking an eye, you will be spending 60 even with the recons. Also depends on what you want to do your self. I got a great deal on new shafts, but by the time I am done, I bet its closer to $70. Hell new bolts and screws have cost me more than $500. Then throw in the well while I am here I ...

I have a question, as I am not really familiar with Pistols. But I have hunted in my day and have a couple of shotguns. For your average Joe, who just wants home protection, wouldn't a shot gun be a better choice than a pistol. Might screw up you plaster but gives the average guy who is not adept at...

The cummins dealer that is hooking up my engines is also a Volvo dealer. This summer he just had to replace a IPS drive out of Point Pleasant that was destroyed by electrolysis. He told me he can't wait to see one that shears off and someone has to drag the thing home on the safety coil they attach ...

Sim Glad to here she was ok. I lost some former co-workers in that disaster. I saw what it was like for someone to try and get their head back on straight after something like that. Harry Its worht it if you love Mahogany boats and the work that goes with them. Great Fresh water boat because as you know the salt just will kill that engine.
