I was assuming he was putting it as high above the water line as possible. Don't want it too low or you could take in water. Not sure but at most a small loop up but would be pretty hard with good hose that is at least 11/8".

Keep the hose runs on the bilge pumps as short as possible. The one in the stern should exit as direct as possible with the rise kept as shallow as possble. The original one was on the side just under the rub rail. Short run direct and not as much lift as running it straight up and out the transome....

Also follow up on Scot's comments.

If the boat has the original rudders, you are going to have a hard time tooling around on one engine.

She sounds like a repower candidate with a pair of Cummins Recon's like Walter said.

If she was sunk, forget it unless you plan on complete gutting.

I don't think anyone said they were not built solid. We just said the finish work left something to be desired. They are a great boat. Will eat up a head sea. The finish just is not as good as the Bertram.

Don't let the BlackFin guys hear you say that. I made the mistake once on another board of saying the finish on the Bert was better. Did I get an ear full. I agree, well built but corners were cut. Mostly on finish. Good head sea boat.

Assuming they used parts made in different years and marked them as such, I would go with the number that represents the newest part otherwise it never would have made it into the boat. So based on that theory I would say 1965 is your best bet.

Actually you can get a stainless tank that is Coast Guard certified but they can not be used if the boat is run commercially such as in a Charter. The firm that everyone used to use appears to be gone, Maybe Coolair can tell us who he is using in Florida.

10 inches up here in North east NJ. They are looking at another possible big storm this coming week. Snow was real heavy. So wet that at the mouth of the driveway it looked like I was throwing water with the snow blower.

My 75 didn't have the backing pad either. It was never there. We have owned the boat since it was new and never had pull the rudders until we did the repower so I know it was never played with.

Guys Don't make fun of the abacus. A lot was done with slide rules and abacus before computors existed. Also, if you have never seen an abacus used, those that know how to use one can arrive at the answer just as fast as you can using a calculator. How the dam things work is beyond me but they work.

Like Bob says all boats are wet. Just depends on how you run them.

If I were you with a $40,000 budget, is to find a nice gasser. They are out there. Look around and up the price to low $60's and you might find a decent diesel.

When they were new the finish on the 31 Bert was much better than on the Blackfin. I know that Bertram and Blackfin used the same gelcoat back then.
