Guat

For the engine check out, the best I have found so far is Johnny at Rio Dulce. They maintain quite a few cummins on the pacific and at Rio Dulce. The fuel is very dirty generally so polish the fuel, and you might have to change injectors (dont have them rebuilt there in the city). We were only getti...

Generally lowboys are not as low riding as trasport trailers. My transport trailer can go as low as 4" off the pavement for the blocks supporting the keel. Most lowboys, will have a deck that is at least 16" off the pavement that the keel will sit on with some 2" blocks thrown in. I have used Atlant...

While I am not saying boats are more important than lives, far from it. There does seem to be a serious lack of good planning and thought that is leading to an even more difficult cleanup later, and unnecessary loss of property that ultimately we all pay for in increased rates or bailouts of failing...

Why I dont necessary disagree with your thought process, there are two functional lanes basically empty. Traffic is so light going in to Galveston and out, that there is no traffic. They have brought in busses and they are heading out to other locations with people, and traffic is still non existant...

IKE comments

Sometimes things go on that make you wonder about the guys in charge of this cleanup. There were a bunch of boats piled up on 45 south at galveston to include a couple of Bert 46s, a42, a 38, (2) 35s, a 33 and a 54. There was a travel lift right there (300 yards), but the owners and operators were n...

John Cranston wanted a black marlin

John Cranston has been planning a trip to mexico to go fishing for about a month or more. He kept telling me all he wanted was a black. He went on and on about it, and the fishing for blacks has not been good lately. I had warned him that we might just hook up a 5 gallon bucket to a rod and tell him...

Height and overwide

Scot, The height info provided is spot on at 13 6. There are some older overpasses in Texas that are lower in the 12s. As previously pointed out the power lines and traffic lights can be much lower. There is also always a high and low side of overpasses, so you can choose your lane and pick up a few...

There is a mold for the 31 flybridge in Acapulco, and it is quite normal to see the flybridge on that type boat all over mexico. They are people haulers, I think 20-30 at a time that service the cruise ships and tourist trade to haul people out to beaches for day trips. They usually have a single 20...

If the set mentioned above does nto work for you, send me a email. I have a storage room down in the area that has a bunch of stuff, and should include a couple of sets of struts. I will not be down there for 2-3 weeks.

Surge tubes

Interesting discussion on the surge tubes. I had orginally thought I needed them, but in the last 8 years, we have not had an instance where water coming in the pipes was a problem for the motors (6bta) in my 31s. My guys spend a whole lot more time in hard reverse in Guatemala than I have seen anyw...

I have an original Bahia Mar hardtop, and I believe there is a mold in Mexico for the original flybridge model flybridge. You can place the flybridge on the original hardtop.

JC,

I believe we will make it next season. Believe it or not, they are still screwing around with the gear, and we have decided to send down a set of zf220s, couplers, etc and are hoping they get it done by the ILTTA tournament on the 28th. We will see. Congrats on the tournament!

JC, There is no one in Guatemala that you want to fix your prop. Been there done that and wont do it again. For the shaft, I would just call around the larger machine shops in El Salvador. I use a machine shop in Guatemala City. but they will not have anything different from what is in El Sal. Check...

502s

I use 502s behind 300s and 210s 6bt's. I think they are a little light for your 330s. We have used the set behind the 300s hard for 4 years, and are currently rebuilding one because the captain ran it without oil after a direct guage broke and the oil ran out of the gear. Other than this the gears h...

JC,

I believe that is the oil pressure sensor you took a picture of behind the starter. I have a tack drive hooked to the injection pump on the front side of the engine, and I have a magnetic hookup on the bellhousing. I believe the optical also goes on the bellhousing but I am not sure.

On our boats the tips go to the captain and get split out evenly. If everyone tipped 15-20% if service warranted, they would be thrilled.
