Re: ZF question

Everything was pretty snug - so hopefully should not have leaks - The O rings are just a sealing surface so should not be a leak concern. Guess we shall see.

Re: B25 '68 advice

I would assume the gear ratio is the culprit. On gas engines that can spool up to 5,000 rpm's most transmissions are set up with a 1:1 gear ratio With a diesel - You typically want a higher gear ratio - at 1:1.65 at 3900 rpms you are spinning the prop at 6435 RPMs - should be more than enough to get...

I know this is an old thread - I am just in the process of changing my oil tubes on my ZF 220A - they are a bitch. Does anybody that has changed also replace all the O-rings? I'd like to - but Seaboard is asking $383 for a rebuild pack of o-rings - that seems excessive. Sizes? just leave as is? Yeah...

If you are tying to a dock with two - yes you should be tight with little slack. Besides the spring lines - mine is fairly tight - I have some slack so I can get the lines off the cleats. Of course, hey might have stretched after this storm too.

I'll also add that when you pull he engines - and have access - replace all the instrument senders - replace the thermostats - replace the belts and hoses. If the engines are running well - then that typically will help clear up the problems - if it doesn't then you at least know the senders are goo...
